- Leaves
- Twigs
- Acorns
- (Natural materials found outdoors)
- Paper
- Craft glue
- Glue spreader or small paintbrush
- Basket to collect the materials
Preparation
- None
Steps
- With Spring upon us and beautiful warmer weather, choose a sunny day to do this activity
- Invite the child, letting them know that for this activity they will be going outside
- Invite the child to get ready accordingly (apply their own sunscreen, put on a hat, shoes and socks etc)
- Let the child know they will need to bring a basket to collect some natural objects outdoors to make leaf people
- Go with a walk outdoors (either in the backyard or around your local area), collecting natural materials, for example, large leaves, twigs, acorns, stones etc
- Once the child has finished collecting the items, find a place where they can create their leaf people (an outdoor table is ideal)
- Bring the craft glue
- Let the child know that they are going to use the items they collected to make leaf people
- Make an example for the child without using the glue to stick the items down
- Invite the child to make leaf people
